Certification and Compliance
KBAL’s engineering department has the ability to make Transport Canada approved Aircraft Modifications to meet customers’ requirements and also changes to assist us in our own operations. We have on-site Inspectors with extensive knowledge, who work closely with Transport Canada inspectors. This close relationship allows for expeditious approvals. Here are just some examples of modifications we completed:
- University of Texas Institute for Geophysics – Ice Penetrating Radar, Antarctica 2008-2009
- NASA Jet Propulsion laboratory – Towed Antenna, Antarctic 2008-2009
- CRESIS University of Kansas & NASA – Ice Penetrating Radar, Greenland 2008, Antarctica 2008-2009
- Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory Columbia University – Ice Penetrating Radar, Greenland 2008, Antarctica 2008-2009
Kenn Borek Air offer's a full service overhaul maintenance hangar in Calgary with routine maintenance being completed wherever the aircraft is located. Our knowledge of our aircraft is long standing and substantial. Our engineering department can complete the modification process for specific survey platforms. The avionics department routinely installs customers’ specialized equipment.

In Calgary we have a substantial inventory of spares and over 50 000 ft2 of hangar space that can house large aircraft. We also have hangarage in Inuvik, NT, Resolute Bay, NU, and Iqaluit, NU. We have 74 maintenance engineers, 45 apprentices who with our inspectors provide industry leading maintenance and support services.
